Psalm 23:5 — You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over.
"The Bible tells us to love our neighbors, and also to love our enemies; probably because they are generally the same people." —G. K. Chesterton
Ha!. that’s a funny quote—but seriously, no matter how polite or pleasant you are [in life], you will encounter your fair share of attackers, aggressors, detractors, backstabbers, haters, etc.
Maybe it's a group of gossip hounds at church spreading rumors about you and your family. Perhaps it's a co-worker trying to provoke you. Or maybe it's an old guy in the elevator purposely coughing in your face for no apparent reason.
Either way, dealing with people who want to hurt you is frustrating and discouraging. However, the Bible teaches that God will take care of those who harm you and the icing on the cake is; He’ll bless you plentifully in front of them.
So don't sweat the small things, from little people, with big mouths. Instead, take comfort in God's oh-so-sweet promise to bless you in the face of your enemies.
Father, I know that I am not supposed to hate anyone, and I know that I am supposed to love my enemies and pray for those who persecute me. So, I ask You to take care of my enemies. I pray that You would bless them and not curse them. I pray that You would turn their hearts toward You. I pray that they would come to know You as their personal Savior.
Success is the best revenge
I loove this verse. Whenever i envission irt in my head i can see Jesus literally feeding me a great feast while my enemies sit there and starv.
I resonate with this deeply,
Though on a side-note about enemies, I always feel that enemies are no longer what the regular person has but rather people like politicians, nations, etc. basically not having a normal personal behaving or doing anything that would garner the profound relationship of an "enemy"...
I live life (or try best to) as much as you mention here as possible.
Though I try to consume my thinking and heart to only include anyone that love me and that I love.
This way for me, negates the voices and actions of anyone that may not be of benefit to my endeavours or life. And neither is my success tainted with wanting to show the "haters" just how far I have come despite them.
I think the greatest revenge one can do for our haters and enemies, as it were, was if we were to bring them on the journey with us towards their success too if we can.
Want to go fast? Go alone.
Want to go far? Go together.
