Hard work, works
Proverbs 10:4 — Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.
The correlation between laziness and poverty is well documented throughout the book of Proverbs. You will find several instances where God reminds us that working hard is the path to success.
Some of us treat God like a Genie waiting to grant our every wish. We think that just because we go to church and read the Bible He owes us whatever we want. As if doing those things are for His benefit.
Some of us think we’ll wake up one day and find that car, house, or spouse (we’ve been praying for) just waiting to be discovered.
Some of the boldest among us expect two-day delivery on our requests as if God is Amazon Prime.
Sorry to tell you this, but it doesn’t work that way.
When it comes to God, you have to remember that He’s not a Genie, He’s not Santa, and He’s definitely not Amazon Prime. He is however, a generous and loving God who wants to bless and mold you into someone who isn’t afraid of hard work.
By understanding this very simple truth, you will engage in a more fulfilling relationship (with God) and receive more than you even asked for.
You want better health? Work at it. Sleap 8 hours/day, read for a little mental stimulation, drink a lot more water, eat balanced meals, go for a walk, and pray.
Need a new job? Do your part. Update your resume, fill out applications, take some online classes, work on communicating better, and of course, pray.
God knows what I need better than I do so I’m going to keep working for what I want.
